Undergraduate Thesis Students

Kayla Burton
I am one of the undergraduate thesis students that will be working in this lab, entering my 4th and final year of my BSc degree in Psychology and Neuroscience at Wilfrid Laurier University. One word that I would use to describe my interests is intersectional. Specifcally lying at the crosssroads of social psychology, social cognition and cognitive neuroscience. I am particularly interested in how people perceive, interpret, and respond to others’ behaviour, and how memory, attention, and judgment processes interact with social identity and moral reasoning to shape attitudes toward individuals and groups. More broadly, I am drawn to work that bridges neuroscience and psychology to uncover the mechanisms underlying social perception, moral decision-making, and interpersonal dynamics. For my thesis, I aim to investigate the impact of social media on individuals’ perceptions of themselves and the world around them. I am also interested in exploring, through a cross-sectional lens, how these effects may differ across age groups and generations.
