Kayla Burton

I am one of the undergraduate thesis students that will be working in this lab, entering my 4th and final year of my BSc degree in Psychology and Neuroscience at Wilfrid Laurier University. One word that I would use to describe my interests is intersectional. Specifcally lying at the crosssroads of social psychology, social cognition and cognitive neuroscience.  I am particularly interested in how people perceive, interpret, and respond to others’ behaviour, and how memory, attention, and judgment processes interact with social identity and moral reasoning to shape attitudes toward individuals and groups. More broadly, I am drawn to work that bridges neuroscience and psychology to uncover the mechanisms underlying social perception, moral decision-making, and interpersonal dynamics. For my thesis, I aim to investigate the impact of social media on individuals’ perceptions of themselves and the world around them. I am also interested in exploring, through a cross-sectional lens, how these effects may differ across age groups and generations.

Ahmed Hantoush

I am a fourth-year Health Sciences student at Wilfrid Laurier University. I am honored to be completing my thesis on the topic of commuting and student health with Dr.Anne Wilson for 2024-2025 year. I am passionate about all things, health and wellness and have immense respect for the thankless work that researchers do to expand the borders of human knowledge. I am a huge soccer fan, I play volleyball regularly, love to create content as well as critiquing various forms of art. Looking forward to utilize and advance my research skills and then maybe just maybe I can help extend human knowledge by a little bit.

I am a fourth-year BSc Biology student at Wilfrid Laurier University, currently collaborating on a research project with undergraduate thesis students under the guidance of Dr. Anne Wilson. My research focuses on the effects of commuting experiences on student health. When I am not working on university-related work, I am normally playing soccer, staying active outdoors and working out, as well as hanging out with friends.
